How to avoid this simple mistake in your content writing

Copywriting experts may instruct us to ‘write as you speak’, but there are times when it’s better not to. You’ll often hear people say phrases such as:

My own house…

Let’s connect them together…

It’s a true fact…

It possibly might…

2am in the morning…

We first conceived of the idea…

There are 5 different cafes near here …

We received a free gift…

Exciting new innovation…

If you were to write these phrases, a good editor or a good proof reader will delete the following words in bold. They’re superfluous, repeating what has already been said:

My own house…

It’s a true fact…

It possibly might…

2am in the morning

We first conceived of the idea…

There are 5 different cafes near where I live …

We received a free gift…

Exciting new innovation

One of the wonderful features of the English language is its flexibility. We have a staggering range of words to choose from. Yet, as these examples show, writing in the English language is not always the same as speaking it. English is fraught with opportunities for error and confusion.

If you’d like a professional editor or proofreader to look over your words to really make them shine like they should, get in touch.
