Founded in 1988 by businessman and multicultural marketing guru, Joseph Assaf AO, the annual Ethnic Business Awards are the country’s longest-running national business awards program.   Who can enter the Ethnic Business Awards?  There are two categories: 
  • Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander Award for businesses majority owned by someone of Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander descent. 
  • Migrant Business Award for anyone who was born outside of Australia but who now holds citizenship or residency. This category has two subcategories: Small Business ($10 million or less in revenue) and Medium-Large Business (over $10 million).  
What are the aims of the Ethnic Business Awards? 
  • Recognise and reward the contribution of migrants to business and to the Australian economy 
  • Highlight the collective migrant spirit and celebrate the diversity of the nation
